Tinubu, Fayose, Obaseki, others hit Ekiti for Oyebanji’s inauguration (photos)

Ekiti played host to political heavyweights on Sunday as APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, former governor of Ekiti, Ayodele Fayose, Governor of Edo, Godwin Obaseki, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo, and many other dignitaries hit Ado-Ekiti for the swearing-in ceremony of the new governor Biodun Oyebanji.

Oyebanji and his deputy, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye were sworn into office by Ekiti Chief Judge Justice, Oyewole Adeyeye.

Other dignitaries at the Ekiti Parapo Pavillion, the venue for the inauguration include the Minister of Trade Industry and Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo; the outgoing Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, Ekiti Speaker Funminiyi Afuye and former Chief of Defence Staff, Gabriel Olonisakin.

Others are former Chief of Army Staff, Azubike Iherijika; the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Political Matters Senator Babafemi Ojudu; Osun Deputy Governor Adegboyega Alabi who represented Oyetola; Alawe of Ilawe-Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Alabi among other dignitaries in attendance.

The tenure of Oyebanji’s predecessor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi lapsed 12 midnight after the expiration of his tenure, paving way for the new helmsman to take over the reign of power for the next four years.

Oyebanji was the Secretary to the State Government under Governor Fayemi before he became the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in the June 18 governorship poll.

Oyebanji went with victory in the poll by scoring 187,057 votes to defeat its closest rival, Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party, who garnered 82,211 votes.
