Yet to be identified gunmen have reportedly attacked the convoy of Auchi, Edo State-based preacher, Apostle Johnson Suleman, killing four policemen and two other persons in the process.
According to AfemaiReporters, an online blog based in Edo North, the convoy of Suleman was attacked along Auchi-Warake road, close to Auchi.
Besides the four police operatives who were security details, the two other victims said to be a yet-to-be-identified lady and the driver of one of the vehicles in the convoy were killed in the attack.
It was gathered that men of the Vigilante group at Ivbiaro, in Owan East Local Government of the state, later apprehended and lynched one of the suspected gunmen.
Another unconfirmed source also added that the hoodlums “have been apprehended by men of the Nigerian Army”, who allegedly chased after them immediately they got wind of the attack, and have been taken to the Auchi Police Area Command as at 6:47pm.
As at the time of filling this report, the Edo State Police Command spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor did not pick calls made to him for confirmation, as he kept cutting the call.
