Liverpool blew a chance to move into the top four on Saturday, crumbling to a lone goal defeat at Nottingham Forest.
The Reds which had last weekend defeated high-flying Manchester City by a lone goal at Anfield, succumbed at lowly Forest.
After a goalless first half, Nigeria’s international, Taiwo Awoniyi struck the only goal of the match for Forest on 55 minutes.
Awoniyi fired the rebound into the middle of the goal after the ball broke to him in the box to make it 1-o for the homers.
Liverpool were favourite to win the match and they showed their intent earlier in the game.
Fabio Carvalho on 9th minute, had time and space inside the box after picking up a neat pass, but his shot towards the bottom left corner was brilliantly saved by Dean Henderson.
On 25th minute, Awoniyi brilliantly evaded multiple challenges and bent in a shot from the edge of the box towards the middle of the goal. It was a weak effort, however, and was easily saved by Alisson.
Five minutes later, Alisson pulled off a great save to deny Jesse Lingard, who made himself some space inside the box and unleashed a quick shot to the left side of the goal.
Harvey Elliott, on 57th minute latched on to a precise pass and one-on-one with the keeper slammed the ball towards the right-hand post. Dean Henderson was alert, though, and leapt like a salmon to deny him.
