Nigeria’s Flamingos have crashed 5-6 to Colombia in penalty shootout in the semi-final of the ongoing Under-17 Women’s World Cup  in India.

The match had ended goalless on duration time, which necessitated an immediate penalty shootout.

The Nigerian girls were almost winning it as Edafe threw away the deciding kick that should have seen them hit the final for the first time. The kick hit the post.

The Colombians then grew in confidence, while subsequent Nigerian penalty taker looks defeated psychologically.

The Colombians scored two more penalties while the Nigerian side scored one and crashed in the semi-final.

Folorunso missed the last kick for Nigeria which was caught by the the more determined Colombian goalkeeper.

The Flamingos had kept the more organised Colombian girls at bay throughout the duration of the match.

The Nigerian side had made history by becoming the first African side to reach the semi-final of the tournament after beating the United States 4-3 on penalties in the quarter-finals.

Nigeria will now meet the loser between Germany and Spain for the Bronze medal match on Saturday.
