President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday presided over the National Security Council meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha; the National Security Adviser, Maj. Gen. Babagana Monguno (retd.), and the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, were among those at the meeting.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo, and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Isiaka Amao also attended the meeting.

The president had suspended some of his official engagements, including the inauguration of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) new Technology and Innovation complex, to preside over the emergency meeting.

The terrorism alerts issued by U.S. and U.K. was one of the reasons the security chiefs were summoned.
