Horror as farmers uncover 10 unidentified bodies in Edo

The was tension on Tuesday morning, when several unidentified bodies were discovered in the bushes along Ibillo-Lampese axis of the Lagos-Abuja road, Ibillo, in Akoko Edo Local Government area of Edo State.

The bizarre incident was discovered by farmers who were on their way to their respective farms at about 7.00am.

A report was subsequently made to the Vigilante members in the area who combed the adjoining bushes and discovered more bodies.

It was gathered that the total unidentified bodies discovered were 10.

A resident in the area, Victor Arogunyo who confirmed the incident in a telephone interview journalists in Benin, said they contacted the police on discovering the corpses.

He said: “This morning, I got a call that our farmers who were going to the farm saw some dead bodies littered on the sides of the road around 7:30am in the morning,

“I rushed there and actually found out that it was true. Immediately, we got in touch with the police and eventually we found ten dead bodies.

“The corpses seem to be fresh because blood was coming out of the mouths of about two or three of them but there were no signs of gunshots because the police who came tried to check signs of gunshots which they couldn’t find.

“Together,  the police, the civil defence and hunters removed the dead bodies from the bushes and they have been deposited at the General Hospital in Ibillo,” Arogunyo said.

The State Police Command spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, also confirmed the discoveries of “10 male bodies.”

He, however, said that he was still awaiting detailed information from the DPO of Ibillo Division.
