Foremost rights activist, Comrade Alarape Wahab Animasahun (AWA) Bamiji, popularly called Awa Bamiji has been appointed as a member, Civil Society Committee, Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council.
The Agbarijo Egbe Odo Yoruba, Grand Council of Yoruba Youths informed P.M.NEWS that the resilient activist’s name is included in the supplementary list of the Campaign Council’s members.
As a result of the inclusion, his friends and colleagues in the civil society and human rights communities, who had frowned at the inaugural list which did not include the name of one of them who they felt would best represent them, have applauded the decision.
Awa Bamiji, a multi-talented rights activist and a grassroots mobilizer is a graduate of Political Science from the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile – Ife.
He has become a household name owing to his long period of political and human rights activism.
He is the President of the twenty-one-year-old Yoruba youth group, the Agbarijo Egbe Odo Yoruba, Grand Council of Yoruba Youths.
Awa Bamiji thanked his friends and colleagues who have expressed joy over his appointment to the council.
He promised to adequately represent the collective interest of the teeming members of the Civil Societies’ Community, his constituency for over three decades.
He called for their support in order to achieve desired results, saying “Eni ki i je Awa de” (i.e strength lies in collectivity).
