Odunlami explained that the incident occurred on Saturday and that the suspect was being investigated, while the victims (stepchildren) were being treated at the Federal Medical Centre in Owo.

“Meanwhile, the case has been transferred to our Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for proper investigation,” Odunlami said.

An eye witness, who did not want his name in print, said that the suspect claimed that his wife, who is the mother of the victims, had offended him over a little misunderstanding.

According to the source, the suspect committed the act because his wife denied him having sex.

The suspect allegedly poured gasoline on the room while the kids were fast asleep, and one of them died in the ensuing fire.
