Lagos POS operator Nosa sent to prison accused of stealing N32m from Bank

The Police at the Area ‘A’ Command, Lion Building, Lagos Island, have arrested a 32-year-old Point of Sale, POS Agent, Enoma Nosa accused of fraudulently stealing N32,558,000 from an old generation bank.

Police alleged that the defendant perpetrated the fraud between 2019 and 2020 at block 427, Amuwo Odofin housing Estate, Lagos.

Police further alleged that the management of the bank uncovered the alleged fraud when it audited its account and reported the matter to the Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP in charge of Area ‘A’ Command, Lagos Island, Lagos who directed his men led by ASP Raheem Buliaminu to arrest the defendant.

The Police team tracked and arrested the defendant at a hide out in Lagos and charged him before the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos Island on a two-count charge bordering on fraud and stealing.

Police Counsel, Kingsley Jackson informed the Court in the charge marked R/37/2022 that the defendant committed the offence between 2019 and 2020 at block 427, Amuwo-Odofin housing Estate, Lagos.

Jackson told the Court that the defendant allegedly defrauded the bank of the sum of N32,558,000 by charge backing through two of his accounts in two new generation banks bank with the name Enoma Nosa linked with his POS machine.

Jackson said the offences, the defendant committed were punishable under sections 337 and 287(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge in the open Court and Magistrate K.K Awoyika granted him N5m bail with two sureties in like sum.

Awoyika directed that the sureties must have a minimum of N8m savings in their respective bank accounts.

She adjourned the case till 5 December, 2022 for mention and ordered that the defendant be detained at the Ikoyi correctional facility till he perfected the bail conditions.
