Popular Lagos cleric Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on the Rock Church on Saturday paid tribute to gospel artiste, Sammie Okposo, who died at the age of 51 on Friday morning.

Okposo used to be the Director the Choir at Adefarasin’s House on the Rock Church in Lagos.

He was also regular feature at the programmes of the church, though he was no longer a member until his death.

Adefarasin also reportedly played a vital role in the growth and Christian life of the late singer.

While mourning the gospel singer in a Facebook page on Saturday, Adefarasin described the late singer as a ‘great warrior’ who will be ‘greatly missed.’

He also described Okposo as a ‘greatly gifted man’ adding that his memory is ‘forever blessed.’

Pastor Adefarasin wrote:

To a greatly gifted man,
Words fail me…
Sleep on in the Lord till we meet to part no more.
Your memory is forever blessed; may The Almighty keep all who love you dearly and share in our great loss in the cover of His mighty wings.
We will miss you on this side. Rest in peace great warrior.

Reports early Friday morning had indicated that the singer slumped and died where he was being treated for exhaustion.

However, his family later confirmed his death in a statement by one Hecter Okposo later in the day.

In the statement, however, the family did not reveal the cause of Sammie’s death.

It read, “It is with a heavy heart but with total submission to God that I announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, Minister of God, Sammie Okposo.

“Sammie slept and went to be with the Lord on the morning of Friday, November 25, 2022.

“More details about the burial will be communicated soon.

“We are consoled because we know that he is with Jesus singing with angels. We kindly request that the family is allowed to grieve peacefully at this time.”
