The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) says it had concluded plans to create additional vehicle parking lane markings in selected parts of the state.

Mrs Adebisi Adelabu, LASPA General Manager, disclosed in a statement issued by the organisation’s Public Affairs Officer, Mr Abayomi Ariba.

Adelabu said that the initiative, to begin on Monday, was to reduce parking challenges as well as improve the parking system across the state.

She said that the markings would be in Surulere, Ikoyi, Lekki, Obalende, Ikeja and Victoria Island, stressing that the agency was working to improve street parking in 2023.

According to her, the lane markings will guide motorists and pedestrians on appropriate parking regulations and spaces, and minimise indiscriminate parking, confusion and uncertainty.

Adelabu added that the initiative would also provide information to residents on parking procedures within each specified environment.

She said that special consideration would be given to people living with disabilities in putting up the markings.

Meanwhile, the general manager solicited the understanding of residents within the locations, on any inconvenience that the markings might cause them.

This, she said, is because the state government was working at improving the parking system in the state as part of its traffic management and transportation agenda.

Earlier, Adelabu said that LASPA had recently unveiled plans to begin full implementation of its parking policy by the second quarter of next year.

She promised that the authority would continue to sensitise the public on the need to embrace a good parking culture.
