Police in Zamfara have rescued six women and a one-year-old child from kidnappers in the state.

Police spokesman SP Muhammad Shehu, stated in Gusau on Sunday that abductors seized the victims at Kadamutsa village in Zurmi Local Government Area of the state on Nov. 24.

Police, however, rescued the seven of them on Zurmi-Jibia Highway on Saturday, Nov. 26.

Shehu added that the rescue was made possible with the assistance of local vigilance groups and intelligence reports received by the police.

“The rescued victims were taken to hospital for medical checks, debriefed by the police and returned to their families,” Shehu stated.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Kolo Yusuf commended the police operatives and vigilantes for the successful rescue operation.

He said Yusuf also congratulated the victims for regaining their freedom and reiterated the police’ determination to rid the state of crime.
