It is end of an era on Thursday as Belgium’s golden generation crashed out of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after a goalless draw with Croatia.

Belgium, second ranked team in the world and the third best side in the last world cup, paraded a squad dubbed ‘golden generation’ of the country.

Belgium needed to beat Croatia to go through to the knockout stage of the tournament after a shock 0-2 loss to Morocco.

But the European heavyweight collapsed and crashed out of the tournament in the group stage.

Earlier on 11th minute, Yannick Carrasco had an effort from inside the box but it was brilliantly blocked.
On 50th minute, Mateo Kovacic took a nice touch on the edge of the box as he met a pass and produced a shot towards the roof of the net, but was saved by the keeper.
Also Yannick Carrasco received a neat pass inside the box on 61st minute and instantly thumped the ball goalward, but a defender made a last ditch block to deny him.
In the same minute, Romelu Lukaku spurned a big chance. He got to the rebound but it only hit the right post.
Lukaku also spurned another chance to score for Belgium. It was a great ball in from Kevin De Bruyne. Lukaku should really have done better with a close-range header, but he headed it a whisker over the crossbar.
On 87th minute, Lukaku took the chance to have an effort at goal from inside the box but missed to the right of the target.
Thorgan Hazard, on 90th minute, swung the ball in and Lukaku got on the end of it, but Dominik Livakovic showed good awareness and came off his line to thwart the move.
