The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, as a member of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council.

This comes a few days after he announced that the Forum of Christian and Muslim political leaders in the North, would support the Presidential ambition of Atiku Abubakar.

Aminu Tambuwal, the Director-General of the PDP-PCC and Governor of Sokoto, announced Dogara’s appointment in a statement on Sunday.

It partly read; “The leadership of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council wishes to formally announce that Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara has been appointed as a member of the Presidential Campaign Council with immediate effect.

“This is part of our continuous effect in joining hands with our presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to recover our great country, Nigeria”, the terse statement read.

Meanwhile, Dogora has not officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He did, however, withdraw his backing for the ruling party’s presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over the Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.

While Dogara had not issued an official statement regarding his new position as of the time of this report, his new role is expected to begin immediately.
