Gov. Oyebanji assures Muslims of proper representation

Governor Biodun Oyebanji has assured Muslims in Ekiti State of effective and adequate representation in his administration.

He made the assurance during a visit by members of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and the League of Imams and Alfas.

Oyebanji promised to consult with Muslim leaders before naming anyone and to appoint only true Muslims to his cabinet to represent their interests.

He took the opportunity to thank the state’s Muslim community for their support during the election that resulted in his election as governor.

According to him, the appointment of Dr. (Mrs) Habibat Adubiaro was a decision in the right direction.

He affirmed that Muslims could be trusted with positions of authority as a good number of them exhibits a high level of hard work, commitment and integrity.

Earlier, the President General, of the League of Imams and Alfas, Sheik Jamiu Kewulere, and the President, of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Afolabi Bakare reiterated the commitment of Ekiti Muslims to the success of the present administration in the state.

The cleric commended Governor Oyebanji for championing the welfare of Muslims in the state through his vision of people-oriented programmes.

He used the opportunity to call for the resuscitation of Islamic and Arabic studies as well as the reintroduction of the use of the Hijab in secondary schools.
