France thrash gallant Morocco to set up cracking World Cup final with Argentina

Defending champions, France beat Morocco 2-0 on Wednesday to set up a cracking World Cup final with Argentina on Sunday in Qatar.

France will meet Argentina in the final of the tournament on Sunday while Morocco will play Croatia in the third place match on Saturday.

France is aspiring to become the third country that has won the World Cup back to back. Only Italy and Brazil have done that.

The defending champions opened scoring in just five minutes into the match. Theo Hernandez was in the right place at the right time to get to the rebound inside the box and gleefully rifled the ball into the middle of the net.

On 17th minute, Olivier Giroud blew a great chance. He unleashed a shot from inside the box, but the effort rattled the left post.

Raphael Varane came close to scoring on 40th minute. He got the ball inside the box from the resulting corner, but his effort went narrowly wide of the right post.
Five minutes later, Hugo Lloris made a sensational save to thwart a huge chance. A rebound fell to Jawad El Yamiq on the edge of the box and he struck goalwards towards the bottom left corner, but the goalkeeper managed to dive and punch the ball onto the post and away.
France made it 2-0 on 79th minute. Randal Kolo Muanihas the simplest of task to roll the ball into an empty net from close range after a rebound left the keeper stranded.
