Ibrahim Ayanleke Abiodun wins house in Glo promo

A 20-year-old student has emerged the lucky winner of a three-bedroom house in Globacom’s ongoing customer appreciation promo, Festival of Joy.

Ibrahim Ayanleke Abiodun was a perfect clone of the “doubting Thomas” as he played hide and seek with Glo officials who called to inform him of his good fortune. He refused to show up all through Thursday when the call was made to him after the draw.

It took a video call showing him the premises of Globacom as well as persuasions from friends and neighbours before he believed that the calls from Glo were genuine and that his status had indeed changed to that of a landlord. Ibrahim eventually showed up on Friday to claim his house prize.

The keys to the three-bedroom house were handed to the winner by the Executive Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Engineer Abdullahi Olowa, and Honourable Noherm Adams, member representing Etiosa Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Before this new addition, four Glo subscribers had won houses in Ibadan, Port Harcourt and Abuja. The four winners are 19-year-old undergraduate of Ekiti State University, Ibrahim Akindele, 48-year-old Abuja businessman, Chukwu Rueben Okorie; 26-year-old lawyer, Chimeka Woke, and 49-year-old Mechanical Engineer, Ola Owonifari Joseph, both of whom won in Port Harcourt.

Explaining his disbelief of his good luck, Ibrahim said though he opted into the promo by dialing *611#, he was not prepared for the shock of being told that he had won a house.

“I was also being careful because all kinds of things are going on in town these days and we need to also know that this is December when scammers would also try last minute activities to scam people”, he said, adding that he had been swindled last year in his bid to rent a befitting apartment for his parents.

At the presentation ceremony, Engineer Abdullahi Olowa, hailed the giant strides of Globacom, noting that the company had, since inception, pioneered and sustained the tradition of making subscribers a priority in its operations.

“It is heartwarming to note that Globacom still keeps faith with the tradition of adding wholesome value to the lives of its subscribers,” he said.

According to Globacom’s Regional Manager, Lagos 1, Mr Temitope Ayeni, subscribers wishing to participate in the promo should “dial the dedicated short code *611# and recharge to be eligible to win any of the prizes on offer.

“Subscribers who desire to win any of the 3-bedroom houses must make data subscription up to at least N20,000 during the promo period. The more they recharge, the higher the chances of winning,” he volunteered.
