Brig.-General Godwin Alabi-Isama (Retd)

Retired Nigerian Army general, Godwin Alabi-Isama, a war strategist and veteran of the Nigerian Civil War, will be 82 years of age on Dec. 24, 2022.

The ever-young octogenarian caught the attention of cameramen last week at a Christmas cantata party in a Church in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital with his incredible dance performance which could only be expected from a man below age 50.

The very athletic Gen. Alabi-Isama, the author of a comprehensive book on the Nigerian Civil War between 1967 and 1970, ‘The Tragedy of Victory: On-the-Spot Account of the Nigeria-Biafra War in the Atlantic Theatre, and a sports personality in the Army still plays football to date!

Alibi-Isama was the Chief of Staff of the famous Third Marine Commandos of the Nigerian Army under the command of the Civil War hero Benjamin Maja Adekunle. After his retirement from the military as a Brigadier-general, he relocated to the United States to enter the communications industry.

He returned to Nigeria in the early 20s to publish his account of the war for posterity.

The elder statesman, in his signature white ‘dashiki’ dress with white shoes to match, was caught by cameras dancing like a 45-year-old athlete during the Church service in this video:
