The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has charged residents of the State to be safety cautious in this Yuletide period.

Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu gave the charge at the agency’s Christmas Carol Service on Tuesday at the Command and Control Centre, Alausa, Ikeja.

Speaking with newsmen, Oke-Osanyintolu said: “I appealed to the  good people of Lagos State that while they are celebrating in this festive period, they should abide by the rules of safety, they should be humble in what they are doing. They should ensure that they do not store petrochemicals, or inflammable substances, they should ensure that their children are kept safe.

“They should ensure that they do not put inflammable substances where their children will go and touch them. On our parts, our equipment are on ground 24-7; we are highly charged. Our personnel are scattered all over Lagos State 24 hours. We are highly ready to manage the golden hour. We will not disappoint you. When you do your part, we will do our part, disaster or emergency is everyone’s business.”

On the reason for the Christmas Carol, the permanent secretary said there was the need for the agency and its workers to give God the praise for being with them since the beginning of this year.

“It has been a long year but God has made it possible for us to see another Christmas and the season of carol, unique and colourful period when we assemble to render songs in praise of the Lord Jesus Christ, who came to redeem the world by dying for our sins,” he stated.
