Eight docked for cutting dead man’s parts in Ibadan

Eight men, Waheed Tijani, 50; Taiwo Yunusa, 38, Afeez Ariyo, 43; Kazeem Tejumaje, 47; Abdulrasheed Tanimola, 55; Muritala Kewulere, 65; Dauda Azeez, 52; and Abdulhakeem Oriola, 51, were docked on Friday in an Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court in Ibadan.
The defendants, whose addresses were not given, were charged with allegedly cutting a dead man’s body parts.
They were also charged with conspiracy and ignoring the body.
Mr Philip Amusan, the prosecutor, told the court that the defendants allegedly committed the crime on December 13 in Gbedun, Ibadan.
He claimed that the defendants tampered with the body of the late Nimotalahi Amidu by chopping off his head and body parts.
According to Amusan, the offence violated Sections 517 and 242(1) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Mrs O. A. Akande, the magistrate, granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 each, with one surety in the same amount.
She adjourned the hearing until February 22, 2023.
Amusan claimed the offence violated Sections 517 and 242(1) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
