Sen. Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (APC-Lagos West) has urged Christians and Nigerians in particular, not to use the occasion of Christmas celebration for merry-making only but also use it to pray for the success of the 2023 general elections.
In a Christmas message to his constituents and Nigerians on Saturday, Adeola said citizens should use the period for sober reflection and supplication to God, for a better and prosperous future.
Adeola, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, said Christmas symbolized a new dawn for humanity and hope for mankind, adding it was a perfect period for Christians to renew their faith in Jesus Christ.
“I want to urge all Christian faithful not to use the occasion of the 2022 Christmas celebration for merry-making only but use it as a period of reflection and supplication to God Almighty for a better, peaceful and prosperous future.
“With this year’s celebration coming weeks to crucial national and states elections, I urge all Nigerians to see the season as another opportunity for fervent prayers for a new dawn and prosperous future.”
While acknowledging that citizens were going through a difficult period, occasioned by socio-economic challenges caused by local factors and a downturn in the global economy, Adeola urged Nigerians to be patient and look forward to a better future.
The senator added that with an abiding faith in Jesus Christ, the country’s challenges would be a thing of the past and the dream of a great Nigeria would be realized.
