Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of PDP, has gained the love, and admiration of many on social media after he celebrated Governor Seyi Makinde.

Governor Makinde is one of the five governors in the PDP who have made it clear that Atiku will only get their support if the chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu resigns.

The governors known as G5 also stated that Ayu’s resignation must pave the way for a southerner to lead the party in order to create a “regional balance”.

The group’s argument is that the PDP presidential candidate, Mr. Atiku, and the PDP chairman, Mr. Ayu, are from the north.

The members of the G5 rejected their inclusion in the Atiku presidential campaign council and have continued to boycott the activities of the campaign – they instead prefer a PDP state-level rally in their various states.

The APC and Labour Party are taking advantage of the PDP crisis by telling Nigerians that Mr. Atiku cannot unify Nigeria if he is finding it difficult to unite the PDP.

However, despite the disagreements, Atiku took to his social media on Sunday to celebrate Makinde who clocked a new age.

“Happy birthday and merry Christmas, Governor @seyimakinde. On behalf of my family and team, I wish you many more years in good health and service to the good people of Oyo State and Nigeria,” Atiku wrote on Twitter.

The post has earned Atiku a lot of love on social media as many commentators labeled him a mature politician.

One Yahuza Hamza wrote: “Despite everything these G5 governors have done and continue to do to frustrate you and our great party, you still find it within your heart to celebrate them on their birthday, you are a leader, and God’s willing you will be crowned the next president of Nigeria come 2023.”

Another commentator wrote: “My calculations over your victory is 85% certain. Victory is yours. My prayer to you is to be a President to all Nigerians irrespective of tribe, religion, or section. I’ve seen your plans on security, it is the way forward for our country. Season greetings our President.”

One Jade also wrote: “You are a leader! Show love and win them all over, let’s close this HE. I see the volcanic effect it could bring, beyond the unshakable fact that you will win the election, even if it were to hold today. Compliments Sir.”
