Wife of Edo State Governor, Betsy Obaseki on Sunday felicitated with pregnant women who gave birth to infants on Christmas day at the three major Hospitals in Benin City.
Ever since she became the Edo First Lady, Mrs. Obaseki made it her custom to visit Hospitals on Christmas day to shower gifts on infants born on the festive day, known as Christmas babies.
The hospitals visited were the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Edo Specialist Hospital and the Central Hospital.
Wife of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mrs. Ejiro Ogie, who represented the Edo First Lady on the visitation, was received at UBTH by the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Darlington Obaseki and his management staff.
The Christmas babies at UBTH was a girl born to Mrs. Omorowa at 2:15 am, weighing 2.5 kg.
Another baby girl weighing 3.5 kg was delivered by Mrs Enogie, at about 10:30 am.
Mrs. Esther Aigbu gave birth to the Christmas baby of the Central Hospital, a baby girl who waighed 2.7 kg at 8 am.
At Edo Specialist Hospital, Mrs. Sophia gave birth to a baby boy weighing 3.2 kg at about 8:30.
Cash and other gift items were presented to the Christmas babies and others babies born in December at the three medical facilities by Mrs. Obaseki.
Also in the entourage was the State Commissioner for Youth and Gender Issues, Barr. Andrew Emwanta.
In his remark, the CMD of UBTH, Prof. Darlington Obaseki, lauded Mrs. Obaseki and the state Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, for collaborating with the Hospital to settle medical bills of indigent patients who could not settle their bills.
The beneficiaries of the gifts, expressed their gratitude for the gifts which they described at a “blessing from God.”
