Arsenal’s plot to open 10-point gap at the top of premier league on Tuesday was thwarted by Newcastle, holding the gunners to a goalless draw at the Emirates.

Arsenal mounted the pressure but could not dent the resilient Newcastle defence.

Earlier as 5th minute, Bukayo Saka went on a mazy run through the defence and got within shooting range inside the box, but his effort to the bottom right corner was thwarted by Nick Pope.

On added time, a corner was sent into the box by Kieran Trippier, but Joelinton flashed the ball a whisker past the right post.

On 80th minute, Gabriel Martinelli was the quickest one to orientate himself inside the box and leapt to connect with a cross from the corner kick. He produced a fine header, but it flew narrowly wide off the left post.
Nick Pope pulled off a great save two minutes to duration time to deny Eddie Nketiah who, made himself some space inside the box and unleashed a quick low drive towards the middle of the goal.
The gunners have maintained seven home unbeaten runs this season, but Newcastle have spoilt their fun.
Despite the draw, the gunners are still opened eight-point gap at the top, but it will be cut to five points if Manchester City beat Chelsea on Thursday.
