Tinubu’s ally Chimaroke Nnamani shocked by PDP suspension

Chimaroke Nnamani, the current senator representing Enugu East on the platform of the PDP, received his suspension with rude shock.

PDP announced the suspension of the former governor of Enugu State on Friday night over allegations of anti-party activities.

Nnamani, in his defense of the suspension, said he was never notified or invited by the party.

He stated that his right to a fair hearing was clearly violated by PDP but urged his supporters to remain calm.

The former governor said: “I have since been inundated with telephone calls and messages from various persons, seeking my clarification on the matter.

“Just like every other person, the decision and announcement of my purported suspension from the PDP came to me as a rude shock and huge surprise.

“I was never at any time notified of any petition or complaint against me or informed of the grounds that formed the decision of the NWC of the PDP to suspend me from the party.

“I was not also invited to any meeting, proceeding, or hearing of the NWC of the party where my supposed offense (s) was/were discussed. I was, therefore, not afforded the opportunity to make representations on my behalf at any meeting where the proposal and decision to suspend me from the party was made. My right to a fair hearing was consequently violated against the clear provisions of the Constitution of the party, especially in disciplinary proceedings. More importantly the Superior Constitution of the FRN.”

Meanwhile, sources have confirmed to PM News that Nnamani’s suspension was due to his connection to Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress.

In 2022, the Enugu politician was included in the presidential campaign council of Tinubu despite being a PDP senator.

He was later removed from the list but the politician continue to associate with Tinubu.

In December 2022, Nnamani said he was supporting Tinubu because of southeast interest.

The PDP senator, who spoke at the inauguration of the state and LGA coordinators of Tinubu/Shettima Independent Campaign Council(ICC) in Enugu, added that he is not supporting Tinubu for personal gains.

He said the former governor of Lagos has the capacity to fix the country, adding that the Igbo must use him as a bridge to build support across the country.

“I’m not looking for a ministerial position because I have outgrown that. We are doing this in the overall interest of our people,” he said.

“Ndigbo are using our support for Tinubu and APC in 2023 to build bridges across the country.

“Don’t join issues with people who are resorting to insults. Just concentrate on the goal because this is a very serious business.”
