Nnamani, a former governor of Enugu State is also contesting to return to the senate in the February presidential and national assembly elections on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party.

The new profile picture featured the Nnamani in white, putting on traditional Igbo cap with the logo of PDP the top corner of the poster. Written under the photograph of the former governor at the left side of the poster is “Vote Sen. Chimaroke Nnamani Enugu East Senatorial Zone”

On the other top right of the poster is APC logo, and Tinubu’s picture with the write up ‘Vote Bola Ahmed Tinubu for President of Nigeria’

Nnamani, has consistently declared his support for the former Lagos governor since he emerged as the candidate of the ruling party, despite the fact that he was in a different party.

Nnamani who was governor of Enugu from 1999 to 2007, the same time Tinubu was governor of Lagos has described the APC presidential candidate as the best among the set of governors of that era.

However, the PDP recently suspended the Senator for anti-party activities over his refusal to embrace the presidential ambition of his party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

In a statement he released on Sunday, Nnamani, said he is supporting Tinubu, because the PDP failed to abide by the provision in its constitution that key political offices should be rotated between the Northern and the Southern part of the country to ensure equity, justice, and fairness.

In the statement, Nnamani said, “Conscious of the need to share and rotate key political offices among the diverse people of our country, the PDP constitution clearly stated that it shall adhere at all times to the policy of the rotation and zoning of the party and public elective offices in pursuance of the principles of equity, justice, and fairness.

“Even when the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, made a firm commitment to step down should a Northerner emerge as the presidential candidate for the 2023 election, the leadership jettisoned the constitutional provision and turned the logic upside down.”

The former Governor noted that in 2019, PDP allowed the North to contest the primaries for the presidency in Port Harcourt, Rivers State where Atiku emerged the presidential candidate.

“It was expected that in 2023, the PDP would, in a corresponding manner, allow the South to contest for the plum position, but the party would, in its decision, open the contest for both the Northern and Southern aspirants.”

“The action of the PDP amounted to injustice and a lack of equity, maintaining that it is morally wrong to leave power in the north after President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure in 2023.”
