'How Cross River Commissioner for Women Affairs Getrude Njar was abducted'

Abandoned car of Mrs. Getrude Njar, the Cross River state Commissioner for Women Affairs who kidnapped by gunmen in Calabar, the state capital on Wednesday.

Police operatives in Cross Rivers have initiated efforts to rescue Mrs. Getrude Njar the state Commissioner for Women Affairs in Cross River who was abducted in Calabar, the state capital by yet to be identified gunmen on Wednesday.

The gunmen, who were masked had forcefully taken the commissioner out of her official car at the Calabar South area of the city and whisked her away, according to an eyewitness.

The gunmen whisked Mrs Njar away in their car and abandoned her own car, the eyewitness added.

NAN also quoted Mr Kalita Aruku, Special Adviser to Gov. Ben Ayade on Information as confirming the abduction of the commissioner kidnap in a telephone interview.

“Yes, security sources have informed us that the Commissioner for Women Affairs has been kidnapped.

“As we speak, security operatives have launched a manhunt for the kidnappers with a view to arrest them and rescue the victim unharmed,” he said.
