The Lagos Police Command, Lion Building Division, Lagos Island has arrested two Niger nationals and charged them before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court for allegedly conniving to steal their employer’s goods valued at N6,000,000 and selling them off at a giveaway price.

Police alleged that the defendants Mamud Oseni, 26, and Samari Adamu, 42, who are salesmen to the complainant allegedly stole cartons of Spoons valued at N6,000,000 from their employer, Mac-Don Nigeria Limited’s warehouse after closing hours and sold the goods off.

Police further alleged that nemesis, however, caught up with the defendants when they stole another seven cartons of the spoons and were caught by the vigilant security men on duty as they made their way to exit the company’s gate.

Following the incident, the security men sent a distress call to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of Lion Building Division, Lagos Island about the matter who drafted his men led by ASP Tunde Segun to the scene to arrest the defendants.

The defendants who claimed to reside on Lagos Island were charged before the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos Island on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

Police Prosecuting Counsel, Reuben Solomon told the Court that the defendants committed the offence between 10 and 25 October 2022 at Mac-Don Nigeria Limited.

Solomon alleged that the defendants who are salesmen to the complainant connived and stole their employer’s goods valued at N6m within a period of time before they were arrested.

He said the offences, the defendants committed were punishable under sessions 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and the Magistra, O.S Abioye granted them N500,000 bail each with two sureties each in like sum.

Abioye adjourned the case till 16 February 2023 for mention and ordered that the defendants be detained at the Ikoyi correctional facility till they perfected the bail conditions.
