JUST IN: Buhari meets Emefiele, Tambuwal, Bagudu, others over Naira crisis

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday met with the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele and representatives of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum in Abuja.

The meeting, held at the State House, Abuja, was to deliberate on the CBN’s Naira redesign policies which has impoverished Nigerians.

There has been scarcity of the new Naira notes ahead the February 10 deadline extension set by the CBN.

At the meeting on Tuesday were Emefiele, Chairman, Nigerian Governors’ Forum, Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state; Chairman, Progressive Governors’ Forum, Gov. Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State  and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa.

The president was initially billed to meet all members of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum to deliberate on scarcity of the new Naira notes.

It was later gathered that the meeting was cancelled while Buhari opted to meet with representatives of the governors.
