The Abia State government has asked for immediate suspension of plan to install one Sarki Shehu Bello II as the Emir of Aba.

While condemning the plan, the Abia government, in a statement on Tuesday said the proposed coronation is illegal as there is nothing like Aba Emirate Council in the State.

In the statement which was signed by Chris Ezem, secretary to the state government, Abia government also said it was not informed of the plan to install the Emir.

“Government wishes to warn all involved in this unauthorized and illegal coronation to stop forthwith or be prepared to face the full weight of the law.

“Government hereby directs the immediate cancellation of the proposed illegal coronation as there is nothing like Aba Emirate Council in the State.

“Government further warned all residents in the state, especially those in Aba, to be law-abiding,” Ezem said.

The government therefore directed law enforcement agents to act quickly to prevent such an event from disrupting the peace in Aba and Abia.
