Operatives of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) stormed the home of former US Vice President, Mike Pence’s home on Friday in search of classified documents.
This was after Pence’s lawyer found some paperwork and invited the feds to do a more complete search.
Daily News reports that Police in suburban Carmel blocked access to Pence’s Indiana home as agents mounted a meticulous search that was expected to last most of the day.
Pence’s lawyer had found 12 classified documents in a search of his Indiana home in the latest bombshell related to mishandling of secret information by officials in January.
No information yet on the outcome of today’s search at the former VP’s home if anything was found or not.
Pence had said he was unaware the documents were at his home and apologized.
His lawyers immediately notified authorities and voluntarily asked the FBI to conduct its own more extensive search.
Pence is currently on the West Coast with his family after his daughter had a baby, according to his spokesperson.
A private attorney for Pence is at the Indiana house while the search is underway, the spokesperson added.
The FBI is also expected to search Pence’s office in Washington, DC, in the coming days, sources told CNN.
