The All Progressive Congress (APC) Campaign Council in Yobe State said it has realised N2.2 billion during the party’s fundraising dinner in Damaturu.

Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, Director General, Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, announced this, saying that the amount was realised on the spot as pledges on Wednesday.

According to him, hundreds of well-wishers, friends and associates of Governor Mai Mala Buni, made generous and kind donations to support Buni’s reelection bid for a second term.

Alhaji Tijjani Tumsa, Chairman of the Fund Soliciting Committee, stated that the purpose of raising cash was to provide a smooth and trouble-free electioneering process without financial setbacks.

He stated that they had every reason to contribute to re-electing Governor Buni and his deputy in the next elections, especially given their performance over the last four years.

Earlier, Sen. Ibrahim Gaidam, Chairman of the Campaign Council, tasked party faithful to donate liberally to the mission, stating Gov Buni deserved a second term because he demonstrated to be up and doing, considering the beneficial consequences.

He stated that because the governor has provided infrastructure, security, education, health, and youth empowerment, there was a need to support him in order for him to build on previous achievements.

The fund would be used to support all candidates running for elective offices on the party’s platform.
