Ghana is a nation that has produced some truly incredible soccer players in its time. Many African countries are well known for their footballing abilities, but Ghana is on another level.

Their prowess cannot be overstated, and the players they produce are on par with the best European footballers ever to have played.

If you’re someone who likes to play the soccer odds, it would serve you well to have an understanding of the players in the teams you’re betting on and their skills, as well as their weaknesses.

In this piece, we’re going to discuss some of the best Ghanaian footballers who we believe will go on to be the best in 2023.

If you take the time to go over the details about these players, you’ll have a better grasp of what makes them so good at the beautiful game and why they’re an excellent bet when you’re playing the odds.

Let’s start with the best

We firmly believe that one Ghanaian football star, in particular, will hold on to his stats this year and continue to set the pace for the rest of his countrymen: Thomas Partey. Not only is he currently the best Ghanaian player, but he is also rated as one of the best midfielders in the world. His overall rating of 84 can be broken down into the following categories:

● Dribbling 72
● Attacking 71
● Defending 73
● Physicality 78
● Passing 69
● Goalkeeping 40

Partey’s five-year tenure at Atletico Madrid saw him rise to prominence as a midfielder. As an integral part of Diego Simeone’s team, he was a force to be reckoned with on the field. He took his leave from Madrid to join Arsenal in 2020, where he got off to a rough start. His performance improved, and under Mikel Arteta, he managed to make his way back up to the standard he had become known for. He is an incredibly physically defensive player with a powerful leg, to boot.

Other Ghanaian players to watch this year

Lawrence Ati-Zigi
Ati-Zigi, the national team’s goalkeeper, is a nineties baby who rose to his current level of play incredibly quickly. When he is not playing for the national team, he keeps goal at FC St Gallen and has already been on two Africa Cup of Nations teams. His first match for Ghana was a friendly against Iceland in 2018.

Daniel Amartey
Amartey is a legend in the midfield and defense; there’s no doubt about it. Also a member of the Ghanaian national team, Amartey spends his days playing for Leicester City, a Premier League club. His football career began in the International Allies’ Youth Academy and later led him to Djurgarden and Copenhagen before he joined the ranks at Leicester in 2016. Magnus Pehrsson discovered him at the tender age of 16 on a scouting trip to Africa when he was preparing to take the reins over at Djurgardens IF.

Mohammed Kudus
Kudus’ incredible footballing talent took him from one side of the planet to the other: from Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy to Danish soccer club Nordsjælland. He began playing as an academy student at the age of 10 back in 2018, and his official Nordsjælland debut also came at a relatively early age: immediately after he turned 18. That first match was a 2-0 win for Nordsjælland against Brondby IF. With this game, he became the 9th youngest player in history to debut at the club.

Denis Odoi
Dennis Frimpong Odoi’s right foot is a thing of great beauty. The Ghanaian player, who currently plays for Club Brugge of the Belgian A Division, is not only deadly with his right foot but can also actually play both sides almost equally well. His nickname, The Professor, was given to him because of the incredible level of maturity and discipline that he maintains at all times on the field of play. Though he was born in Belgium, he now represents the Ghanaian national team instead of his motherland’s.

Joseph Aidoo
In 2013-14, Aidoo kicked off his career at Inter Allies in the First Capital Plus Premier League. He received a nomination for Best Defender in his category (domestic top tier) but unfortunately did not take the award home. Swedish club Hammarby IF signed Aidoo on a six-month deal, then on a three-year deal, following one particularly incredible appearance. Aidoo transferred to Genk in 2017, and played in the Belgian A Division. In 2019 it was time for another move, this time to Spain, to play for RC Celta De Vigo on a five-year contract.

These are the Ghanaian players that we believe will be top of the pops this year. Their skill and talent leave no doubt that they deserve to be on the list of the best Ghanaian players out there.
