The Coalition for A Better Nigeria has accused the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the NNPC Limited of playing a “Hide And Seek Game” over the scarcity of currency and fuel in the country.

In a release signed by the coalition’s National Coordinator, Comrade Awa Bamiji, which was sent to P.M.NEWS on Friday, the group described the insensitivity of the government to the pains Nigerians are currently going through as disheartening.

Awa Bamiji also described the flagrant disobedience of the Supreme Court Order by the CBN and Federal Government as very unfortunate.

He said the unwarranted situation has led to “protests across states of the Federation  and loss of lives in some parts of the Country.”

He alleged that a cabal around President Muhammadu Buhari was behind the mischief, saying Nigeria would overcome any evil plot against it.

He, therefore, appealed to all and sundry to “please remain calm in the face of hardship, suffering, pain and discomfort in the land because “there’s no history of unbroken darkness, after darkness, comes daylight” – Obafemi Awolowo.”

It will be recalled that the Supreme Court on Wednesday, Feb. 15 ordered that Nigerians could continue to spend the old naira notes pending the determination of the suit filed by some governors against the CBN’s Naira redesign policy.

However, in violation of the apex court’s order, the CBN said its Feb. 10 deadline for old naira notes remained unchanged.

After much pressure occasioned by interventions from state governors and other prominent stakeholders, President Buhari grudgingly returned the old N200 note till April 10, while he refused to return the old N500 and N1000 notes.
