At least property worth N23 billion and 28 lives were lost in 649 fire incidents across Nigeria in the last quarter of 2022.

This was revealed in statistics of the Federal Fire Service made available to NAN on Tuesday in Abuja.

The FFS added that 29 lives were saved with 40 people rescued and N145.4billion estimated property saved within the period under review.

The statistics also showed that the causes of the fire incidents were due to various reasons, ranging from electrical equipment and high voltage from PHCN.

Others are illegal storage of petroleum products, bush fire, electrical spark, among others.

It said the affected areas include private dwellings, educational establishment, shops and clubs.

Others are hotels, restaurants, factories, banks, petrol stations, transformer, oil/gas, timber sheds, automobiles, markets, plane crash, among others.(NAN)(www.nannewsng)
