A broadcasting outfit station owned by a member of House of Representatives and an associate of PDP presidential candidate Atiku, Chinyere Igwe in Port Harcourt, Rivers State was attacked by a gang of yet to be identified gunmen on Tuesday evening.

The building housing the two broadcasting outfits Wish F.M radio and Atlantic Network Television was attacked around 8.45 pm on Tuesday evening, according to eyewitnesses.

The gunmen had reportedly attacked the building with explosives suspected Improvised Explosive Devices, IED, after unleashing sporadic gunshots obviously to create panic before they went away.

Though no life was lost in the attack, it was learnt that a transformer and the industrial generator powering the media outfits were destroyed in the attack.

The Rivers State Government had some months ago sealed a petrol station belonging to Igwe, a member representing Port Harcourt Constituency 2 at House of Representatives

Rivers State government claimed the petrol Station located in Diobu area of Port Harcourt was sealed over because the lawmaker was involved in illegal oil bunkering.

But the lawmaker had denied the allegation, insisting that he was being victimized by the Governor Nyesom Wike’s administration because of his support for Atiku.

At time of filing this report, the Rivers State Police Command has not reacted to the incident, and it was not clear if any arrests has been made.
