The North Central Peoples’ Forum (NCPF) has urged Nigerians to elect leaders with demonstrated capacity and ability to turn around the fortunes of the country in the February 25 and March 11 elections.

Arc. (Chief) Gabriel Yakubu Aduku, Chairman National Working Committee, NWC of NCPF made the appeal in a statement he issued and signed on Wednesday in Abuja.

While urging Nigerians, especially people of the North Central Zone who are qualified to vote to troop out to exercise their franchise during the February 25 and March 11 elections, the NCPF NWC chairman noted that at the crux of every nation’s development is visionary, committed and capable leadership.

He noted that to address the break the jinx of national neglect, insecurity of lives and property, massive poverty and underdevelopment, resource underutilization and progressive diminution in North Central Zone, there is the need to vote in the right leaders.

Aduku further noted that the forthcoming elections offer another opportunity to choose such leaders and people of the North Central should seize the opportunity to further to put the zone on trajectory of socio-economic development.

He noted that events leading to the elections have shown that INEC, the security agencies and even the president administration are committed to make the exercise free, fair and credible.

The NCPF NWC chairman added that the 2022 Electoral Act facilitated the use of Bimodal Verification System (BVAS) Machine, and constant voter education by INEC further indicated the determination to make the electoral process free and fair.

“The NCPF is also aware of assurances being given by the various security agencies aimed and ensuring hitch free elections. We therefore encourage all the security agencies that are charged with providing security for this election to do so with every sense of patriotism and within the ambits of the law,” Aduku said.

He reiterated that the Forum will continue with its advocacy and campaign for good leaders as well as and demands for due recognition of the people of the zone as important fulcrum of the nation.

“The Forum also will spare no further energy thereto to contribute her quota to the emergence of such leadership that’s capable and committed to all-around development of the country, regardless of region, religion or ethnicity.

“From inception, the NCPF had a resolution to galvanize all the ethnic nationalities, human and material resources, towards achievements of equitable, fair and just development of the zone. We understand and see unity and peace by all and sundry within the zone as a necessary precursor for progress. This is why our motto is: Unity, Peace and Progress,” Aduku concluded.
