A notorious thug simply identified as Akaihaba was shot dead while attempting to snatch ballot boxes at Agwudoko area in the violence rocked Anyigba in Dekina local government area of Kogi State on Saturday.
Sporadic violence broke out in several places in the local government area during elections on Saturday.
Anyigba and Abocho were most affected in the destruction of voting materials.
According to reports, at Udaba-Dekina, ballot boxes were destroyed by gunmen said to be sponsored by a retired woman officer from the area.
Sources claimed that at Tudunwada polling unit in Dekina town, an irate group created panic.
It was gathered that other areas like Egume, Ojikpadala, while Avharu and Abejulo in Omala LG enjoined smooth voting.
