Eighteen suspects have been arrested in Rivers for electoral offenses ranging from snatching of ballot boxes, intimidation of Voters and hostage taking of electoral Officers in various parts of the state.
Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, the Coordinating Commissioner of Police in Rivers revealed this while speaking at INEC Collation Centre in Port Harcourt.
The Police Commissioner also warned against any form of violent protest over the results being announced in Rivers.
He said the Police would come down strong on people trying to disrupt peace in the state over result of the election.
He urged those who have issues with the election results to go and ventilate their misgivings at the Election Tribunal and not to take laws in their own hands.
CP Aderemi Adeoye declared that those taken hostage and the election materials snatched were all recovered from suspected political thugs.
Meanwhile, there was a mild drama during the presentation of Gokana Local Government Area Returning Officer who presented different figures as compared with what he presented yesterday.
He was asked to go back to reconcile the noticed discrepancies.
