Rivers: 4 policemen arrested for electoral malpractices

Four police officers seen in a short viral video clip taking part in what appeared to be electoral malpractices in Rivers State have been arrested.

The police officers, made up of an inspector and three other ranks were seen in the video operating in a pickup vehicle with the inscription “RRT 050” were arrested and taken into custody for interrogation over alleged involvement in electoral malpractices.

Spokesperson for Rivers Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko announced this in a statement.

“The Police pick-up van in the trending video has also been impounded for thorough investigation.

“The Command assures the electorate in Rivers State of its unalloyed commitment to promoting the rule of law, and ensuring that all offenders found culpable are adequately sanctioned.

“The Command urges all residents to remain calm and await official announcement of the result of the election,” said the police spokesperson.
