Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya of All Progressives Congress, APC have been declared the winner of Abuja South Federal Constituency in the national assembly election conducted on 25 February.

Ajiya won the battle to represent the Constituency which consists of Abaji, Kwali, Gwagwalada and Kuje area councils with 51, 502 votes, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Ajiya, who is the immediate past Chairman of Abaji Area Council, defeated the incumbent, Alhaji Hassan Sokodabo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who sought for second term.

The INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Wasiu Gabadeen, who declared the result, said that Ajiya beat Sokodabo who got 47,376 votes.

He said “After receiving votes and analysed all the results, I, Prof. Wasiu O. Gabadeen, the INEC Returning Officer for the Abuja South Constituency election declare Abdulrahman Ajiya of the APC.

“Having satisfied the requirements of the law, he is hereby declared winner and returned elected,” he said.
