Whether on the frontlines or working behind the scenes, women in public health have moved nations and the world forward, working hard to improve the safety of communities through education, policy and prevention.

This Women’s History Month, we’re acknowledging one astounding woman in healthcare and her impact, especially in Nigeria, when she fought to reduce the casualties of Victims of the COVID-19 epidemic.

Blossom upbringing was truly exceptional, characterized by a nurturing environment within a close-knit family. Growing up with supportive parents and three brothers has been the cornerstone of my life. Her father, a dedicated doctor, not only provided for the family but also instilled in her the values of compassion, hard work, and a commitment to making a positive impact on others’ lives.

His role as a medical professional served as a guiding influence and inspired her journey.

Surrounded by three brothers, two of whom followed in their father’s footsteps to become doctors, and one who pursued a path in engineering, her household was brimming with intellectual curiosity and a shared passion for making a difference. The camaraderie and mutual support she experienced were unparalleled, fostering an environment where each member could pursue their aspirations with unwavering encouragement.
The familial support she received was a constant throughout her formative years.

Whether navigating academic pursuits, exploring personal interests, or contemplating future endeavors, the backing of her parents and brothers was a source of strength and motivation. The wealth of knowledge and diverse perspectives within the family created a stimulating atmosphere that fueled my ambitions and encouraged her to strive for excellence.

Beyond the professional achievements that marked the family, it was the collective encouragement and celebration of each other’s successes that defined the household. The strong sense of unity and collaboration instilled in us a profound understanding of the importance of supporting one another in our respective journeys.

In essence, her growing-up years were marked by the richness of familial bonds, where the shared values of dedication, education, and mutual support laid the foundation for the person she is today. The legacy of a supportive family, with a father and two brothers in the medical field and another excelling in engineering, continues to shape her perspective and aspirations, emphasizing the significance of compassion, knowledge, and collaborative effort in both personal and professional pursuits.
