Tell us about Askam AI Solutions and what you do.
Emmanuel Jonah – Askam AI Solutions is a pioneering tech company co-founded by visionaries Babajide Fakile and Myself. We specialize in bridging the gap between advanced technology and everyday users. Our flagship product is a WhatsApp AI bot that leverages artificial intelligence to facilitate seamless interactions and transactions for users. Our product lineup also includes an upcoming platform—AVA—which represents an evolution of our AI capabilities. AVA is a nuanced chatbot that integrates with users’ keyboards to incorporate AI-powered features into daily conversations.
What birthed the idea of Askam AI Solutions?
Babajide Fakile – Our inception was driven by a mutual recognition of the boundless potential AI technology holds and the need for its tangible applications within Nigeria. The dream took shape in January 2023 when we, a team deeply rooted in technical expertise with members like Isaac David, Emmanuel David, and Shedrach Jonah, joined forces to create practical AI solutions accessible to all.
What is the mission and vision of the organisation?
Babajide Fakile – Our mission is to democratize AI technology, making it user-friendly and universally accessible, thus enhancing the efficiency of personal and business communications. The vision that guides us is a future where AI becomes a staple in the everyday life of Nigerians, opening up unprecedented avenues for innovation and growth.
How are your products different from Chat Smith, ChatGPT from OpenAI and the likes that we have around?
Emmanuel Jonah – Our products stand out through their intricate integration within familiar communication tools, such as WhatsApp, and the future potential with AVA’s keyboard accessibility. Unlike others like Chat Smith and Chat On, our solutions are deeply rooted in understanding the local context and needs of the Nigerian market, affording a more personalized and intuitive user experience.
What challenges have you experienced as an AI startup in Nigeria?
Emmanuel Jonah – As a nascent AI startup, we’ve navigated challenges ranging from limited access to high-quality datasets for AI training purposes to infrastructure constraints and skepticism about AI technologies. Another hurdle is the regulatory environment which is still evolving to fully encompass the dynamics of AI-driven solutions.
How do you generate revenue?
Babajide Emmanuel – Revenue will primarily be generated through the deployment of customized AI solutions for businesses and eventual subscription models for advanced features. Funding will been sourced organically and through venture capital, with a constant lookout for partnerships and investors who align with our ethos. We have been running a freemium service overtime and it appeals to us that users will pay for the service.
How do you also source for funding ?
Emmanuel Jonah – We are always open to strategic partnerships that align with our goals, and having embarked on a journey that promises to redefine tech utility. Expanding to compete on a global stage is part of our long-term strategic vision.
What advice do you have for aspiring innovators?
Babajide Emmanuel – For aspiring innovators, our advice is simple: remain curious, embrace continuous learning, and relentlessly pursue your vision. Innovation is as much about resilience as it is about invention.
How can we leverage AI technology tools in Nigeria?

There is a general believe that AI will replace some job roles and render people jobless, can you please speak on that?
Babajide Fakile – While AI does have the potential to replace certain job roles, it primarily augments human work, creates new job opportunities, and drives demand for skilled labor. Our focus is on education and enabling the workforce to transition into these new roles.
