The Federal Government has ordered the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau to begin investigation into Thursday’s train collision with BRT in Lagos.

Six people were killed and 79 others injured on Thursday in Ikeja area of Lagos, Southwest Nigeria when a BRT bus collided with a train.

Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, in a tweet, commiserated with families of those who lost their lives and sympathized with those injured.

He said experts from the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau had been directed to move quickly to investigate the incident.

“My heart goes out to those who lost their lives in today’s train crash & those who got injured as well as Government & people of Lagos.

“Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau experts have been directed to move quickly. We solicit public cooperation as investigation commences,” he tweeted.

In today’s crash a Lagos State Government staff BRT veered into the rail line and was crushed by the oncoming train, which dragged the bus to a longer distance before it stopped.
