Real Madrid thrash Espanyol 3-1 on Saturday to cut Barcelona’s lead at the top to six points,  but the leader have a game at hand.

Espanyol took a shocking lead at the Bernabeu Stadium in just eight minutes into the game.

Joselu received a precise pass inside the box from Ruben Sanchez and he beat the goalkeeper with a neat finish into the right side of the net.

Vinicius Junior equalised for Madrid on 22 minutes after making a great solo run and pulled the trigger from inside the box, beating Fernando Pacheco with a strike into the bottom right corner.

It was 2-1 for the homers on 39 minutes. Eder Militao leapt to connect with a delightful cross and placed his sweet header into the roof of the net, with the goalkeeper having no chance to make a save.

Madrid made it 3-1 three minutes into added time to wrap up the game and claim all three points.

Daniel Ceballos fed Marco Asensio inside the box, who was unmarked and buried the ball in the right side of the net.

Shortly before the end of the game, Federico Valverde found himself in space on the edge of the box and smashed a glorious looking effort towards the left side of the goal, but Fernando Pacheco thwarted him with a great two-handed save.
