Manchester United lost key midfielder Casemiro to a red card in the first half of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Southampton at Old Trafford.
The Brazilian was initially shown a yellow card for a studs-up tackle on Alcarez.
The yellow card was upgraded to red after a VAR review.
This makes it the second time the former Real Madrid star will see a red card as a Man Utd player.
He was visibly distraught at letting his teammates down, but was given a good ovation from supporters.
His latest sanction came at the worst possible time for Erik ten Hag’s side as they look to bounce back from the 7-0 thrashing they suffered at Liverpool last weekend.
Halftime: Man Utd 0:0 Southampton.
