Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has hailed Lagosians for demonstrating true humanity by heeding the call for blood donation for treatment of last Thursday’s bus/train accident in the state.
The Governor said over 300 units of blood were donated by those who responded to the call, leading to swift action that saved lives.
Sanwo-Olu disclosed this on his Facebook page on Sunday while giving an update on the treatment of the train/bus accidents who were mostly employees of Lagos state government.
According to him, 53 victims of the accident who were hospitalised have been discharged after they were treated.
“I am pleased to report that 53 patients that were hospitalised after the bus/train accident in Lagos have now been discharged after receiving free and quality healthcare from different state medical facilities across Lagos.
”Heeding our call for blood donation, Lagosians demonstrated true humanity with over 300 units of blood donated leading to swift action that saved lives.
”While the discharged return to their families, let us continue to keep the hospitalised patients in our prayers,” he said.
The Lagos State Government staff bus carrying civil servants from Isolo to Alausa had a head-on collision with a train at PWD Bus-Stop, along Agege Motor Road last Thursday morning.
Casualties of the accident which occurred at 7.30 a.m. on Thursday were taken to LASUTH for treatment.
There are 85 passengers on board the bus, 17 people associated with the accident, among which 42 sustained moderate injuries, 29 serious and eight mild injuries.
