Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has visited the Presiding Bishop, Living Faith Worldwide, David Oyedepo in Ota, Ogun State.
The visit is unconnected with plans by Sanwo-Olu to ensure he got re-elected in this weekend’s governorship election in Ogun.
Most members of Living Faith live in Lagos and are large in number.
The believe is that if the clergy man is wooed, he will be able to influence his members to cast their votes for Sanwo-Olu on Saturday.
Oyedepo has been outspoken against the APC’s led government at the centre and he influenced his members to vote against a Muslim-Muslim ticket during the last presidential election.
Sanwo-Olu, being a Christian is using the opportunity to canvass for votes from the churches, while his deputy, Dr. Kadri Hamzat is canvassing votes from the mosques.
The governor is in a desperate move to ensure that there will not be a repeat of what happened in the February 25 presidential election when Peter Obi of the Labour Party created an upset in Lagos, defeating Tinubu in his own base.
The Labour Party’s governorship candidate in the State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour is playing the ethnic card to woo the Igbo to himself, hiding on the popularity of Obi.
