Residents of Ikola in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State trooped out peacefully on Saturday to cast their votes in the March 18 Governorship and Houses of Assembly elections.

As early as 6:30 am, voters were seen moving to their respective polling units to cast their votes.

Some of them spoken to by P.M.NEWS said they were happy with the readiness of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s preparedness for the exercise.

They were also impressed by the peaceful conduct of the electorate who voluntarily arranged themselves and patiently waited in rows to cast votes.

By quarter after eight, accreditation and voting had commenced in most of the polling units visited by P.M.NEWS.

Among the units visited where voting had commenced early in earnest were PU 053 at the African Primary School; PU 153 at Ige Estate, and PU 154 on Godwin Iyamu Street.

“By 9 am I had cast my vote. As you can see, the process is smooth and peaceful. No intimidation, no harassment.

“Just like we experienced here during the Presidential and National Assembly elections on Feb.25, the results, in the end, will reflect the decision of the people,” a resident said.
