Ogun: Gunshots as hoodlums snatch ballot boxes in Gov. Abiodun's hometown

Armed hoodlums suspected to be political thugs snatched ballot boxes at polling unit 05, Ward 03 amidst sporadic gunshots in Ayegbami area of Iperu Remo, Ikenne local government area home town of Ogun governor, Dapo Abiodun during Saturday’s governorship and houses of assembly elections.

The hoodlums, whose number could not be ascertained, had invaded the polling unit on motorcycles and started shooting into the air with the aim of chasing away voters.

The invasion of the hoodlums resulted in chaos, forcing many electorates to scamper for safety to avoid being hit by bullets.

The thugs succeeded in escaping with ballot boxes before security operatives could respond.

Also, the Assistant Polling Officer (APO) for the unit, Alalade Babatunde was beaten up by the hoodlums.

Speaking with journalist one of the voters accused members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the town of being the brain behind the incident.

There was a similar attack in the town during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.
